“I don’t feel like it!” Self Talk – Real Talk Part 1

Do you ever say “I don’t feel like it!” when it comes to doing things that will take you closer to your goals?

I know I do {shocking, I’m a real human. lol}

Whether it’s an exercise goal, nutrition plan goal, side hustle goal, or relationship goal – it seems to me that it’s part of the human condition to just not feel like it sometimes!

When I opened my 5 Minute Journal today, I saw a quote that helped me to put this phenomenon into perspective.

“A vision without a task is but a dream, a task without a vision is drudgery, a vision and a task is the hope of the world.”

In this video, I explain what it all means to me:

Drudgery is where the “I don’t feel like it” comes in.  If it were FUN then I would probably feel like doing it.  I cannot think of a time that I said “I don’t feel like having fun today.” Lol

Having the VISION for what I really want is what helps me to find the enjoyment in tasks that I might not feel like doing.

I know – VISION sounds scary or annoying, but it doesn’t have to be complicated.

Your vision can be big or small, simple or complicated – it’s YOURS.

Example visions –

  • To live somewhere with an ocean view
  • To earn $1000 a month through my side hustle
  • To have a peaceful, authentic relationship
  • To complete a 5k without walking

Take Action : Write down a vision for your future, and share it with someone.

You’ll know you’re onto something when you SMILE and feel a slight burst of energy and maybe a twinge of nervousness.
